Chelsie Walter: One Month In
Deep conversations, tie dye vans, musical paint and neighborhood playbooks. This isn’t your typical 9 to 5.
My experience at People’s Liberty has been unlike any job I’ve previously held. I am a recent graduate of the University of Cincinnati’s Graphic Communication Design program. I have worked as a designer at design agencies and I can say with confidence People’s Liberty Residency Program is something entirely different.
It’s not often that you find a place to work where weekly meetings are titled “dream big” and inspiring others is part of your job description. People’s Liberty has introduced me to a world of doers. People who have decided that talk won’t get you anywhere, action is what changes circumstances. They’ve inspired me to not only be a dreamer, but a doer as well.
In my first month at People’s Liberty I’ve been able to witness the power of empowering people. Past and present grantees at People’s Liberty have found ways to impact their communities in extraordinary ways. As a new round of Project Grantees are ready to be selected I find myself constantly wondering what new adventures and personalities they’ll bring to the table. My first month has been great, but I’m even more excited for the future. Stay tuned.
