Lia Vissing: Friday, is a Fun Day

Remember when you were in grade school and any day spent going on a field trip was the best day of school? Well, here at PL, the fact that we get to have weekly field trips was a very unexpected added bonus. As a young professional, getting the opportunity to go out during work hours and spend time getting to know the city I love a bit better is a plus. Touring organizations that contribute to Cincinnati’s unique culture, is very exciting. So far, we have visited a variety of organizations ranging from design studios, to nonprofits, to various Cincinnati museums.

I feel that many of these opportunities wouldn’t have come into my life if it was not for this residency that I’ve had the pleasure of taking part in. I’m the kind of person who will hear about so many cool things happening in Cincinnati and tell all of my friends about it. However, when it gets down to it, I have a hard time actually going out to visit these places or go to the events. (I’m getting better, okay?) PL has shown me that it is important to take time out of the day to discover something new. You never know who you could meet and where that relationship will take you.

Here is a list of places we visited that should definitely be on a fellow Cincinnatians’ list o’ adventures: The Taft museum of art; Epipheo; Creativemornings; Design Impact; Rookwood Pottery; Solway Gallery; Skirball Museum.
