Christina Coobatis: 3-Month Status Update
We were lucky to have Christina with us on the PL team for 6-months. Christina joined the team last fall as our graphic design resident, then stayed aboard this past spring to serve as one of our alumni coordinators. Christina really developed her skills during her time at PL and created (we think) some projects that will stand the test of time. Nice job Christina! We asked C to reflect on her PL experience. Here's what she said:
What did you accomplish during your residency that you're most proud of?
C: Collaborating with Jenny to create a day-long conference for the grantees from scratch was extremely rewarding. We oversaw every step of the planning process, from building the itinerary and securing the speakers, to establishing the visual identity that informed all pieces of collateral we produced.
What skills do you feel like you developed/sharpened?
C: Being granted the additional role of alumni director gave me my first experience with managing people professionally. I learned a lot about how to communicate effectively and keep track of others’ progress.
Did you make any connections or form any relationships during your term that you plan to carry forward?
C: All of the grantees I’ve worked closely with are awesome people who inspire me with the projects they’ve undertaken. I hope for us to keep in touch, so that I can continue staying up to date on where they’re headed. Of course, I will also always treasure the PL team (Eric, Jake, Aurore, and Megan) for their support and mentorship throughout my entire residency.
What's next for you?
C: I will be continuing my search for ways that graphic design can play a role in engaging communities.
