There is No Such Thing as a Stupid Question
Every Tuesday at noon we have a team meeting. It starts with a question from Jake* and ends in childish giggles. Here are a couple of my favorite meeting questions and our team’s answers (I’m paraphrasing a bit):
What’s your dream house?
–Hannah: Lost boys underground treehouse. For sure. All the fun tunnels and swings? Yes, please.
–Mak: No. I hate houses. They scare me. Too big with too many dark corners. I mean, why do you need all that space?! I want to sleep in open spaces with open air. I would prefer to live on a tiny boat in the middle of the ocean or rent a tiny open-floor plan apartment on the fourth floor, so my windows can be open.
–Priya: I just want plants. Plants everywhere.
–Eric: I want to live in one of those bungalows on the beach in Carmel, CA.
–Aurore: Okay. I want an 800 square foot bungalow. NOT on the beach, but it could be in a beach town. Maybe Carmel...
–Megan: I used to want a midcentury modern house with clean lines, but now I want a farmhouse in the hills with a garden. Maybe someplace like Asheville or Wales.
–Jake: Uh, I don’t know. Those refurbished lofts in barns or carriages are cool, but that’s not ideal when you have kid.
*Jake frequently asks us questions and doesn’t have answers himself.
What have you been listening to recently?
–Hannah: To be that annoying musical theatre kid, I’m obsessed with the Hamilton soundtrack. Lin Miranda has such clever wordplay and gives every character a specific voice and motive. History made one a hero and left the other in the shadows.
–Mak: Devendra Banhart (be still my heart). He is everything from pop, rock, indie, to basa.
–Priya: Probably Hip Hop or Afrobeat fusion stuff. *Priya is the coolest. It’s exhausting*
–Aurore: So much Rihanna. *Aurore is also the coolest*
–Megan: A lot of classical music or a podcast. *This entire team is the coolest*
–Jake: Naomi and I usually listen to NPR on the way to take her to school in the morning. *You too, Jake*
I think at the end of my residency, I’ll compile everyone’s answers and see if the PL team can guess who answered what. I like that all of our answers reflect our personalities. I have quite a few I could add, but knowing us, some might be NSFW.
These candids must be shared as well:
