Our New Fall Rezis
Our two newest Mad Philanthropists, Semhar Tsegay (ST) and Anna Mcaffey (AM) are finally at the Globe and have hit the ground running. Here are eight things you should know about them.
1. Their hopes and dream when they were little.
ST: When I was little I always wanted to teach. I love the idea of talking to a group of people and teaching them something new.
AM: I used to cut out couches and lamps, etc from magazines and decorate whole houses with floor plans I designed myself. I’m surprised I’m not an Interior Designer or an Architect.
2. Their spirit animal.
ST: Definitely an elephant, they are so peaceful and majestic. #GOALS
AM: Mines is a Red Irish Setter. They are so much fun, full of energy and GORGEOUS.
3. What they look forward to most at People’s Liberty.
ST: Taking advantage of all the mad philanthropists in the building. I know they will push me to be creative.
AM: Seeing my final design work living and breathing on its own out in the world.
4. Their dream dinner date.
ST: Right now I’m obsessed with Hailey Gates, so I would love to sit down and pick her brain. She’s host of The State of Undress on Viceland. I think it's astonishing how she is able to explain the effects fashion has on a macro level.
AM:I’ve always been a fan of Audrey Hepburn. She was a philanthropist along with being a ballet dancer, model, and actress. She cared so much about giving back and using her voice for positive change and bringing awareness to causes she cared about.
5. What they hope to bring to the table (not just the big yellow one) while at People’s Liberty.
ST: A new perspective by integrating storytelling with data tracking.
AM: I look forward to working with grantees and using my graphic design and visual communication background to help bring their big ideas to life.
6. If they would like to be famous.
ST: Heavens no.
AM: That's going to be a NO from me.
7. Their favorite design.
ST: I designed my own website which I am very proud of. Check it out here: www.semhartsegay.com
AM: I think my favorite design is a Newborn Care Guide I designed While working at Cradle Cincinnati. I made it user friendly so parents could navigate the first few weeks of taking care of their newborn at home safely. You can see it here: http://ow.ly/65VU30eKS4I
8. What they wish they knew before starting college or graduating.
ST: I've really enjoyed college and learning but I wish I took more classes in the summertime, I am so ready to graduate.
AM: Before college I wish someone would have told me to connect with peers more right away.
